Povzetek: In the paper the seismic response of selected 4-stories R/C frame building designed according to Eurocodes 2 and 8 is presented. Three different structural variants are investigated: 1)symmetric variant, 2)mass eccentric variant with the same reinforcement as symmetric building and 3) redesigned mass eccentric variant considering mass eccentricity. The ultimate strength inX and Y direction is almost the same for all building variants. The seismic response is presented in terms of displacements, story drifts and ductility factors for edge frames and for selected points of the structure. The comparison of the effect of different designs is also given. It is shown that the torsional effects in the asymmetric building that was designed according to Eurocode 8 provisions for asymmetric structures, has smaller torsional rotations, smaller edge displacements and lower maximum ductility factors than the building that was not specifically designed for the mass eccentricity. Where as the maximum damage on the flexible side is reduced due to new design, the damage is increased for the stiff side frames, due to required reduction of strength at the stiff side [COBISS.SI-ID 1314145]
