Povzetek: In many countries it is recognized that higher technical education has to be reorganized. Two IT supported methods, which have been used to modernize teaching and learning of earthquake engineering (structural engineering) at the University of Ljubljana at the Department of Civil and Geodetic Engineering (DCGE) are described. A scheme of the future system, which would be used for distance learning of earthquake engineering, is presented. Some components of the system, which were developed in the past, are summarized. IT supported, project based, team based and multidiscipline work of students, organized at DCGE, is also presented. Both, new ways of teaching and learning have been quite successful although their implementation is still more or less at the initial phase [COBISS.SI-ID 1618529]
